The short video platform has published a Community Guidelines Enforcement Report for the period April 1 – June 30, 2024.
According to the company, it uses a combination of technology and experts to identify and take action against content that violates users’ community guidelines. More than 40,000 specialists around the world, including native Kazakh speakers, are responsible for ensuring the safety of TikTok users, the press service assures.
That’s why 80% of videos that violate the rules are removed automatically – before even one person sees them. Last year, this figure was 62%.
According to the latest report, in Q2 2024 in Kazakhstan:
- 1,494,600 videos were removed for violating community guidelines;
- 94.2% of the total number of removed videos were removed by the platform proactively, that is, before they were reported. The daily removal rate is 87.1%.
During the same period worldwide, due to violation of Community Guidelines:
- 178,827,465 videos were removed.
- 98.2% of video content was removed proactively.
Over the entire last year, the platform removed 4,225,396 videos in Kazakhstan that violated Community Guidelines.
TikTok also launched a separate report designed to provide greater transparency by identifying and stopping possible covert information campaigns to influence public opinion in a political context.
In the second quarter, TikTok suspended 14 covert influence networks worldwide, consisting of 2,240 accounts with a total audience of 1,702,277 subscribers.
