Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev met with Rod Sulaimani — Head of Policy and Partnerships for the Middle East at OpenAI.

“What began as a strategic dialogue quickly turned into a live demonstration — we tested AI-based eGov assistants in real time. Rod was genuinely impressed with the results. In the race for artificial intelligence, it’s not just about resources, but also about speed, systematization, and the willingness to invest in development. We are doing that,” the minister stated.

The parties are working on several initiatives:

– Integration of the KazLLM model into OpenAI products to enhance user experience for Kazakhstani citizens;
– Scaling of AI tools in the public sector, including the implementation of eGov AI and Qazaq Law in ChatGPT;
– Launch of joint educational programs to train AI specialists.

At OpenAI’s suggestion, a handbook on best AI implementation practices will be developed in Kazakhstan — it will serve as a useful practical tool for international partners and the local market.

Additionally, an OpenAI delegation is expected to participate in key events in Kazakhstan: the C5+1 Tech Conference, the Astana International Forum, and Digital Bridge 2025.

Madiyev also announced a visit by Google top management:
“In a month, we expect a visit from Google’s senior leadership to Kazakhstan — this will be the first visit of this level to Central Asia.”

He added that this continues a regular dialogue that has become systematic over the past year and is yielding concrete results.
