Elon Musk officially announced the merger of SpaceX and xAI into a single structure valued at $1.25 trillion. The deal unites space, internet, and artificial intelligence into one vertically integrated ecosystem.
SpaceX acquired xAI, the developer of the Grok model. Musk now controls rockets, satellites, global internet, and AI in a unified system. The expected share price of the new corporation is around $527. Bloomberg notes this is the largest merger in Musk’s tech history.
According to SpaceX, the goal is to create “the most ambitious innovation hub on Earth and beyond,” including launching AI-powered satellites for computing and communication. Musk emphasized that ground-based data centers are too energy-intensive, and the solution is to move computations into space. Within 2–3 years, orbital data centers could become the cheapest way to power AI, accelerating model training and data processing.
SpaceX promises sustainable space practices, including satellite disposal after service life, while financing lunar bases, Martian civilization, and further expansion into the universe.
