The company intends to implement such plans by the end of 2027. Kazakhtelecom recently signed an investment agreement with the Ministry of Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan on connecting more than 3,000 rural settlements to the Internet.
Thanks to the agreements reached, the implementation of the project to build fiber-optic communication lines will be completed a year earlier than planned - by the end of 2026. And connection in remote areas will be provided by satellite communication channels by the end of 2027, covering 99% of villages.
The connection will be carried out as follows: 88% - via fiber-optic, 12% - through satellite networks. The total investment will amount to over 239 billion tenge, with funds allocated from outside the budget.
"Our task is not just to connect villages to the Internet, but to integrate them into the country's digital ecosystem," said Minister Zhaslan Madiyev.
Bagdat Musin, head of Kazakhtelecom, emphasized that equal opportunities for children in cities and villages is an important condition for development:
"The main thing is that a child in a village and a child in a city have equal opportunities: to study, develop and use modern technologies. Access to the Internet has long ceased to be a luxury - it is a basic necessity, which is recognized at the international level, including by the UN and the president of our country."
The project will potentially improve access to education, medicine and government services, and will also help develop small businesses. The implementation of the project also includes the modernization of the infrastructure of base stations of cellular communications in rural areas.
The use of fiber-optic technologies and satellite connections should improve the quality of mobile Internet connections. The initiative is designed to reduce digital inequality, but its final effectiveness will be assessed by transparency and real results.
