On October 18, 2024, updated rules for providing databases in deidentified form for scientific and scientific-technical activities came into force.
They were approved by the order of the head of the Bureau of National Statistics and expand the range of organizations that can now access data under new conditions.
Now, databases can be used not only by Kazakhstani universities and scientific organizations, but also by international ones.
Representatives of universities and scientific institutions can work with data on electronic media or in specially equipped "Researchers' Offices" in Astana and Almaty.
International organizations can use databases only in Researchers' Offices, which allows for increased control over information security and compliance with privacy standards. After the completion of the study, the result is posted on the official Internet resource.
In the case of using data on electronic media, their destruction is carried out by organizations independently. For this, an act of destruction is drawn up, confirming the fulfillment of all necessary procedures.
The order also requires a number of changes to be made to the title and preamble of the document, to align them with the provisions of the legislation.
The new measures are aimed at simplifying access to scientific data and protecting personal information, which creates additional opportunities for the development of scientific research in Kazakhstan.
