On January 13, 2026, our appeal regarding internet restrictions in January 2022 was formally admitted into constitutional proceedings.
The case concerns Article 41‑1, paragraphs 1–2 of the Law “On Communications,” which allows security authorities to suspend networks and internet access unilaterally, without a court decision, in urgent situations.
A final ruling is expected within three months, by mid‑April 2026, though the Court may extend the deadline if the case proves complex.
On the website shutdown.kz you can follow the campaign against internet shutdowns, learn about past court stages, and share your own story of how restrictions affected your life. Your feedback will help advance the public campaign.
