President Kassym‑Jomart Tokayev has signed a decree “On measures to implement artificial intelligence in secondary education.” The document aims to build a modern innovative learning model and strengthen the country’s human capital. By July 1, 2026, the government must approve a Comprehensive Plan for 2026–2029.

The plan includes personalized learning, digital infrastructure development, teacher training, and protection of students’ personal data. Special focus is on reducing the gap between urban and rural schools. By August 1, schools will be equipped with stable high‑speed internet, and by September 1, standards for AI use in education will be adopted. These standards will regulate content generation, assessment, and academic integrity.

Teachers will also receive a continuous professional development plan, with AI considered an additional tool rather than a replacement.
