The conference was held on November 13–14 in Tashkent, focusing on safeguarding media freedom in the era of big platforms and artificial intelligence.
An interactive workshop was organized around the OSCE RFoM Policy Manual “Safeguarding Media Freedom in the Age of Big Tech Platforms and AI”. Eurasian Digital Foundation Chairman Ruslan Daiyrbekov and Academic Advisor Dana Utegen participated in the session.
The Manual highlights the transformation of media–Big Tech relations, reviews international regulatory approaches to reduce systemic dependencies, prevent harm, and strengthen media resilience. It also provides practical recommendations for states to enhance media freedom, platform transparency, and sustainable journalism.
Discussions centered on adapting these recommendations to the Central Asian context, considering regional challenges, digital ecosystems, and the need to ensure access to public‑interest media.
Participants — media representatives, government officials, lawyers, technologists, and civil society experts — worked with real cases, shared experiences, and explored next steps for strengthening the information environment.
The Eurasian Digital Foundation will continue advancing initiatives to promote media freedom and digital rights in the region.
