Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, is officially entering the Kazakhstan market. The Ministry of Digital Development has signed an agreement with it to provide satellite Internet in compliance with all requirements of national legislation.

The document provides for the launch of sales of user terminals in the third quarter of 2025. Until this point, Starlink operated in pilot mode and provided Internet access only to educational institutions.

Now the company will be able to legally provide services to citizens. It is important that the signed agreement secures Starlink's obligations to comply with requirements in the field of information security and communications.

The project will be implemented within the framework of the national program "Affordable Internet" and the President's order to reduce the digital gap between the city and the village. Particular attention is paid to hard-to-reach regions.

It is expected that the connection via Starlink will provide communication to remote villages, mountain settlements, farm pastures, as well as schools and medical institutions without access to fiber optics.

According to Minister Zhaslan Madiyev, such technologies are especially relevant for a country with a large territory and a scattered population. The state uses all available solutions - from fiber optics to cellular towers.

The agreement with Starlink creates a legal basis for the legal connection and registration of user equipment according to all the rules.

Technical and organizational conditions are currently being agreed upon. These include connection parameters, registration rules and conditions for providing the service to individuals.

All stages of the project will be supervised by government agencies. The authorities promise to ensure compliance with national standards in the field of security and regulation of communications.

It is expected that the implementation of the project will open up additional opportunities for the digitalization of the regions.
